Let us see some etiquette a golf player has to observe while playing. Safety is primary responsibility of a player. Before making a stroke or practice swing, he has to ensure that there is no one near him or in the course of the ball.

A player who has an honor plays first, before his competitor. When a player is addressing the ball, no one should stand close to the player or in the path of the ball or near the hole. As also, no one should move or talk when the player is making a stroke. There should not be any undue delay in making a stroke.

In case a ball is lost and the player is searching for the ball, he should signal to the other players following and allow them to pass. He should not play until all the players have passed him. Once play in one hole is complete, the player should leave the putting green immediately.

In a golf course if there are more than one tournament being played, a single player should give way to the tournament. A match playing full round will get priority over any shorter matches being played.

After playing in a bunker, the player should carefully fill up any holes or footprints made while playing there. In case any turf is displaced while playing on the green, he should immediately replace it and press it firmly. As also, any damage made by the ball must be repaired. Players or caddies should make sure no damage is caused to the green or the hole while putting the bag or the flag stick. They should also be careful that they do not damage the hole or the green when pick up the ball from the hole or replace the flagstick. The flagstick should be properly replaced in the whole before the player leaves the putting green.

If golf carts are, used rules pertaining to that should be strictly followed. When a player is practicing swing, he should ensure that the tee is not damaged.

Let us see some of the definitions in the game. When once a player has taken stance and grounded the club that means he has &’addressed the ball&’. If the ball moves due the wind or any other reason even without the player not hitting the ball, will result the player getting a penalty. In the green, a ball is addressed when the player takes stance and grounds the club, as otherwise in hazards the ball is addressed once the player takes stance.

When a player is taking suggestions on the choice of club to be used or the stroke to be offered will be considered as an&’ advice&’. On the other hand, if the player is checking about the position of the flagstick or the hazards or any rules of the game will not be deemed as advice.

Once the player has offered a stroke, on the tee, the ball is &’in play&’. It is in play until it is holed out, or lost or has been hit out of bounds or lifted or has been replaced with another ball.

The person who carries or handles the players clubs is called a &’caddie&’. One or more players use one caddie; but he is considered to be employed by the player whose ball is involved in play. A &’forecaddie&’ is an outside agency, employed by the tournament committee. His role is to indicate the position of the ball to the players.

Each of these terms and definitions are linked with rules of the games also.

I like to think we all seemed to have our heroes and greats in our early years. Growing up in front of a television had us dashing around with a sword or packing a six-shooter at our side. Depending on what we were watching at the time, whether it was in front of a television or out on some field watching a football game. We all seemed to mimic someone at one time or another. In our early years finding someone we admired as a Mentor kind of kept the spirit alive in direction and where we are today.

I often wondered back how I caught on to what some people call golf fever. Thinking back I often admired good golfers where I caddied.

How I remembered getting excited when I watched a good golfer walk towards the first tee box. Standing there in anticipation of a huge drive to follow as the golfer teed up his ball, remembering how they maneuvered the golf ball off the tee box, watching the shot rise with a steady climb as it went out into the distance. I had to figure out then and there on how they did that by grabbing a stick or a nearby branch of any length and mimicking their swing. I use to take buckets of golf balls out to the practice range to try and accomplish that remarkable hitting distance. It just made me a better golfer trying.

Names like Kendal and Nadler sparked my excitement that took me where I am today in golf. To this day, because of my admiration of their golf game back then, it fired up the enthusiasm for years of golf that followed.

The names may not have recognition to anybody else, but to me they were like a Palmer and Nicklaus as their names are to anybody today in the golf industry.

Kendal I admired because of his ability to take trees and woods out of play. His shots started out low with a steady climb upwards at about 200 yards out. His drives were so huge. I think then and there is where I caught the fever. His 5 wood took all the trees out of play. With today&’s technology, I would like to view those same shots again.

Nadler was a different type of golfer. She liked to play a low draw shot or fade shot. Her ability to move a ball in any direction was uncanny. Going up and over trees was not her game. Nadler steered her golf shots around them, like she was navigating a vehicle on an obstacle course.

Her golf game was kind of like, hit the ball just before the green and watch it bounce past a sand trap and roll in towards the flagstick. Nadler could steer the ball around sand traps, trees, and whatever obstacles that were in her way. I often thought her golf ball had eyes, because of how her golf shots would start out straight and come back in towards the flagstick. It was amazing to watch. I learned from her that a straight shot was not the only golf shot you needed to master to play good golf. Also playing the old bump and run approach is an alternative game to play, that she was a master at.

It was because of them, my enthusiasm for golf took me to a better game. I didn&’t even think about watching it on television at the time.

Sure I enjoy watching it on television today. You tend to slow down and take a more relaxed approach, or what you may call a golf couch approach at the game, as you get older. I guess the golf fever for me then, was being able to play golf like my Mentors, and there was nothing more enjoyable than actually trying to create a golf swing like theirs out on the course. I liked to think of them as Mentors, because it was them that taught me the potential thrill of playing good golf.

No matter what game of sports you play or want to learn. It could work for all walks of life. Go out and watch someone that is much better than you, and see if you can catch the excitement, to be as good, if not better. It could bring you to the top. If you’re persistent!

The Mental Focus For A Senior Golf Player

Senior golf is not only physical, but also it is a mental game. You have to have the ability to stay focused, concentrate on the game, and forget the distractions around you. This is very import when playing golf and as you get older, your mental ability to contrite fully on the game could result in a few mistakes in the game. The game is said to e ninety percent mental focus and ten percent physical. If this is the case, then a senior golfer needs to concentrate on the game and leave the world behind.

Senior golf is for relaxing. Even thought you are playing to win, you need to relax and focus solely on your game. If you have a cell phone ringing or to many people around the tee box, you could lose your focus, miss that possible hole in one shot and come in above par. You want golf to be relaxing and enjoyable, but you also need to play to win. It is a matter on mind over matter when you golf. Not everyone can have this type of discipline. Some golfers work hard at focusing while others work at the physical aspects of the game. You need to keep your attention on both the physical and mental aspects of the game.

There was a senior golf pro named Ben Hogan who was very quiet and subdued on the green. This was his way of concentrating and playing the game. Many people thought he was rude or unsociable, but he may have been focused on his came and had the discipline to keep his mind on the game. You see many senior golf players on the golf courses laughing it up and having fun. These golfers play for the fun and excitement but do not care if they make it to the PGA.

Tommy Bolt was a loud player as he was verbal when he played and he had a bad habit of throwing his clubs. He lost many games because of his actions, but he may have had focus, but could not match that focus with his physical ability. It was often wondered how he managed to win some majors in his career. He must have had a reason for getting upset with himself. He knew he could do better, but some people just cannot concentrate with so much distraction around them. When all was said and done, he did come to grip with his anger and won in the senior golf with the PGA.

Senior golf is harder to start at an older age if you have not been doing it a while. You have to condition the body to do the physical side of golf and you need to train your mind to focus and refrain from noticing distractions going on around you. If you are serious about senior golf, you can learn a few tips from the pros on how to improve your game and how to stay focused when on the course.

As you can imagine one of the most important parts of being a successful golf player is learning exactly how to swing and hit the ball correctly. If you have a poor golf swing, it can work against you dramatically and cause you numerous problems in trying to play a successful game. While learning how to swing the club successfully may seem impossible it really is something that you can easily do with a bit of practice and a lot of patience to really continuously practice your skills.

In the beginning, it may seem virtually impossible to learn how to successfully swing the golf club. This is unfortunately due to the many different aspects of a successful swing that come into play. From the appropriate stance, to the right club to use, to even the way you hold the club and then finally the way you shift your weight there are many things that can alter your swing skills. This can often make it quite difficult to determine why you have a bad golf swing, and what you need to do in order to improve your swing.

The vast majority of people who take golf lessons tend to spend a lot of time working on ways in which they can improve their swing. This is one of the single most important skills that you need in golf. Without good swing skills, you simply cannot play a successful round of golf no matter how hard you try. This makes it highly important that you spend a lot of time learning how to improve your skills. Your first step should always be finding an instructor who is patient and makes you feel comfortable. This is essential because you need to be relaxed in order to learn the appropriate stance.

If you are working with an instructor that you do not like, you are more likely to be tense. This can cause your swing to be off, and ultimately hinder your game. Because of the comfort that you need, it is imperative that you are comfortable with your instructor so that you can relax and focus appropriately on your overall form. If you have complications mastering your golf swing you will possibly need additional sessions with your instructor so you can correct any problems you are having before you move on.

With a lot of time, some patience and a good instructor you may very well be surprised at just how quickly the other aspects of the game seem to fall into place once you have mastered your golf swing. Without a powerful swing, you are not likely to have a very successful golf game, which in essence can have the effect of making golf much less fun to play. Patience and practice to improve your overall golf swing is a very good thing to do so that you can ensure that you are making the best decision possible each time you swing at the ball. Simply swinging to swing will likely leave you very frustrated and with a very bad golf score.

You may discover that you master a perfect golf swing in a single lesson or it may take you 20 lessons to master the golf swing. Regardless of how long it takes you, this gives you a good foundation to build up and should never be rushed. If you are a natural at golf you will be able to move on much quicker, however if you have complications with your golf swing it is perfectly normal and natural that it will take a bit of additional time to master the skill. Many people when they are beginning to learn to golf spend more time perfecting their golf swing than learning any other single skill for golf. You should also expect to have this same need, after all a bad golf swing will result in poor playing skills while a good and refined swing will make you highly successful.
