Are You Looking for a Free Golf Swing Lesson?

A free golf swing lesson seems a little too good to be true. But there are actually a variety of websites available that offer free videos to help you improve your swing. Golfing is a fun sport that people of all ages enjoy. Children as young as three and four years old are playing as well as older adults that are well into their 80′s.

The Clubs

Having the right clubs can lead to a big improvement in your game. If you are playing with a club that is too small or too large, it will be difficult for you to get the correct angle on the ball. So the first step to being a golf sports star is to buy some clubs that fit you. You don’t need to buy a set of PGA professional clubs or even some expensive name brand. Just look for a set of decent quality clubs to get you started.

The Swings

Golfers are constantly struggling on improving their swing. But it is difficult to see what needs improvement while you are swinging the golf club. A good way to take a look at your golf swing plane is to tape your swing and your stance.

You could have a friend tape you making a couple different types of shots. Then later you can go back and watch yourself and your swing. Usually you will be able to clearly see areas that you can improve. You might not be swinging a complete swing or maybe you tend to look up before you have hit the ball. The video camera is a great learning tool for beginning golfers as well as more advanced golfers.

Comparison

After you have watched your golf video, you can watch some free swing videos online. While watching the professional golf swings, you will probably notice even more areas that you would like to improve. Watching the professionals swing their clubs is a great way to see how you should be doing it.

You can write down the areas where you feel you can improve your golf swing. Then work on those noted areas the next couple times that you go golfing. When you feel like you have adjusted to the areas that you wanted to fix, then take the video camera out again.

When you video tape yourself this time, make sure and get all varieties of swings so you can see what your driving, chipping, and putting all look like. You may be surprised the first time you watch the video because you will see plenty of areas that will need improvement.

Don’t let that get you down. Improving your golf game is an ongoing process that requires a lifetime of dedication. You will not be a professional after one afternoon of video watching or even one year of trying to improve your game. Golf is just one of those sports that takes a lot of time to develop your game. So enjoy yourself and play some golf, every time you play you will be working on a better game.

Even after playing the game for years (decades?) you never know what’s going to happen each time you step foot on the golf course. Personally speaking, it is this &’unknown&’ aspect of golf that makes the game the most exciting sport to play, and nerve wracking too! I try to hit a full round at my local course at least three times per week and every game I play is an entirely new experience altogether.

Because of the hundreds of unexpected shots that golf brings you, it is imperative that you take advantage of your practice time. Regular practice is the only way that you can experience some of the irregular situations your golf ball may get into. And speaking of practice, the best advice that I can give is to start utilizing unconventional approaches to your golf game.

What Does Unconventional Practice Mean?

Far too many players spend the majority of their time hitting long distance shots at the golf range, with a small percentage attacking their basic short game shots. Either way, neither one of these approaches practiced 100% of the time will present you with the opportunity to make those strange and undesirable shots that a real golf game will inevitably give you.

Free Golf Lesson: Look Away

To give you a perfect example of an unconventional practice shot, here is a lesson that can help you keep your head down and eyes on the ball when initiating your swing when your ball is in a troubled spot.

Step 1: First take your stance to the right side of the ball if you are left handed, and to the left side of the ball if you are a righty. Now face away from the target. Not looking directly at the target may seem awkward at first, but go with it, relax, and loosen up your body.

Step 2: Now hold the club (whichever you like) with it extended downwards from your most dominant hand. The blade should be pointing towards the ground, directly at your feet.

Step 3: Next, place the blade of your club behind the golf ball and turn your head slightly back in order to properly aim your shot.

Step 4: Pull the club upwards while extending it forward. Then swing the club down and along your target line as best possible. Follow through as far as you possible can.

Step 5: Resist the urge to turn around to see the end result. Simply concentrate on following through and getting the ball back in to play towards the green.

We &’older&’ golfers tend to forget basics, and/or ignore them&’. Don&’t, it&’s always a good idea to get back to them regularly.

Golf lessons, you’ve probably talked to someone that has told you that their game improved 10 fold after taking a lesson. It’s probably true, but did you know that there are different types of lessons you can take? Are you looking for a golf school or a private lesson? How about an instructional dvd, lots of people today teach themselves the game of golf right from home with a qualified instructor on their TV. No matter what way you choose to improve your game, the one thing that is a must is you need to shop around. You wouldn’t select the first contractor you called to come fix your home would you? Probably not so don’t do the same with a golf instructor.

This article is a brief overview of what we believe you should evaluate and consider before forking out the cash for professional golf instruction. Before we get into the meat of it there are two things we want you to be sure to do before you begin shopping. The first is determining what it is you want to improve on, the second is setting your price limit for lessons. Without knowing what you want to improve on you can easily waste a lesson, and if you don’t know what you can afford to spend, well that’s for another article on budgeting but trust us it’s better to set a price ahead of time.

Private, Golf School, Or Videos

When looking for golf lessons the first thing you need to decide is how you want to learn. Do you want to enroll for private one-on-one lessons with an instructor? Enroll in a golf school where a pro teaches several people at once, or try your hand at golf instructional videos from home. All of these scenarios will improve your game pending you do the work necessary. There is no silver bullet for golf improvement.

Private lessons will be the most expensive, before you start shopping you should have a clear idea of your price point, and stick to that. Higher end courses and practice facilities will likely have a higher price for lessons. How ever that doesn’t always mean you’ll receive better quality instruction. Look for experienced instructors, again they will generally be higher priced, but they’ll be able to fix your troubles quicker. Don’t be afraid to ask if you can meet the instructor before agreeing to lessons, you’re going to be paying a premium dollar for their services so it only makes sense that you should feel comfortable in them as a person and their skills as a teacher.

If you’re more drawn to enroll in a golf school to improve your game be sure to ask what the average number of students per instructor is. Just like any school if there are too many students in a class you won’t be able to ask any questions or have one-on-one time with the teacher. One downfall to a golf school is that they often provide a ton of golf info in a short period of time, and generally don’t have follow up lessons. While this is great for beginner golfers to achieve a perfect foundation of the game, it can mean you’ll require additional instruction later on.

I want to say a quick bit about how golf videos are catching on as an instructional method. If you’re a intermediate or beginner golfer than this is a very viable option for you, especially if you want to get that over view of the entire mechanics and finer points of the game. For forty bucks or so you can purchase some excellent golf instructional videos that will allow you to learn at your own pace, and refer to if you don’t remember particular points. How ever, for advanced golfers videos will likely move to slow, and won’t offer the pin point information you need to cut those next 3-5 strokes from your handicap.

So to sum it up, if you’re a beginner or intermediate golfer consider videos, and/or a golf school to improve your game. There’s a possibility you’ll eventually take some one-on-one lessons once you feel your game has peaked but for now it will give you drills to practice and allow you to shoot more consistently. How ever if you’re already an advanced golfer and just trying to get under 80 maybe a couple of private golf lessons would be better served for the money.
