Even after playing the game for years (decades?) you never know what’s going to happen each time you step foot on the golf course. Personally speaking, it is this &’unknown&’ aspect of golf that makes the game the most exciting sport to play, and nerve wracking too! I try to hit a full round at my local course at least three times per week and every game I play is an entirely new experience altogether.

Because of the hundreds of unexpected shots that golf brings you, it is imperative that you take advantage of your practice time. Regular practice is the only way that you can experience some of the irregular situations your golf ball may get into. And speaking of practice, the best advice that I can give is to start utilizing unconventional approaches to your golf game.

What Does Unconventional Practice Mean?

Far too many players spend the majority of their time hitting long distance shots at the golf range, with a small percentage attacking their basic short game shots. Either way, neither one of these approaches practiced 100% of the time will present you with the opportunity to make those strange and undesirable shots that a real golf game will inevitably give you.

Free Golf Lesson: Look Away

To give you a perfect example of an unconventional practice shot, here is a lesson that can help you keep your head down and eyes on the ball when initiating your swing when your ball is in a troubled spot.

Step 1: First take your stance to the right side of the ball if you are left handed, and to the left side of the ball if you are a righty. Now face away from the target. Not looking directly at the target may seem awkward at first, but go with it, relax, and loosen up your body.

Step 2: Now hold the club (whichever you like) with it extended downwards from your most dominant hand. The blade should be pointing towards the ground, directly at your feet.

Step 3: Next, place the blade of your club behind the golf ball and turn your head slightly back in order to properly aim your shot.

Step 4: Pull the club upwards while extending it forward. Then swing the club down and along your target line as best possible. Follow through as far as you possible can.

Step 5: Resist the urge to turn around to see the end result. Simply concentrate on following through and getting the ball back in to play towards the green.

We &’older&’ golfers tend to forget basics, and/or ignore them&’. Don&’t, it&’s always a good idea to get back to them regularly.

Golf is a game of great concentration and precision, of accuracy and control and also of some routine building and constant practice on the greens and the driving range. May golfers are extremely passionate about the game of golf and will invest large sum of money in the golf equipment, golf training aids and golf club fees and green fees they pay during the year.

Because of this necessary precision, golfers’ accessories have to be carefully chosen, cared for, and maintained. A hit can change in distance and direction depending on its weight, shape, and wear. A golf club head’s shape determines how a ball slices through the air, the direction it will fly, and even how far it will go.

Golf club heads, in particular, have to be taken cared of more than any other golfing accessory. This is because this device is what gets in direct contact with the ball and spells a win or a loss. Thus, golfers take great pains protecting their golf clubs’ heads with the right covers.

No matter how meticulous you are with protecting your golf club heads, rust is inevitable. However, you can slow the problem down by getting the right shield – a golf club head cover, that is. Club heads are manufactured using chrome-plated carbon steel. Constant use of the club exposes the steel to moisture, abrasion, and friction, resulting, eventually, to rust (and a poor hit).

Using golf club head covers to protect the iron will help keep the area dry and delay rust formation. Some people say using club head covers will only trap the moisture in. But there are different schools of thought to this practice, so it’s really up to you which you prefer to follow.

For the stylish, funky golf club head covers could be a status symbol. Designer golf club head covers are available for sale to give your clubs that sophisticated look. If you’re into fun stuff, you can also buy golf club head covers that have character designs. You can even have them custom-made, depending on what design you want. If you’re a fan of Bugs Bunny, there isn’t any reason why you couldn’t have a Bugs Bunny golf club head cover if you want to.

Again, golf, while criticized as being a game for the frail sportsman, is actually an activity that calls for more effort than it seems – intellectual effort, that is. However, none of the precise calculations would bring any golf game justice if the tools of war are not in their best shape. Golf club heads are the most sensitive of all the golfing gear. Thus, they should be taken cared of and protected well with club head covers.

Imagine an island golf destination that has been voted number one in its nation – not once, but twice in a row. Imagine more than 26 golf courses on that island. Imagine vistas of white, champagne, pink and red beaches; or ocean waters extending far, far beyond the horizon. Imagine a day of golf that leads gracefully into a night of fine seafood dining at a five-star golf resort.

The island isn&’t Hilton Head, its Prince Edward Island&’and the country is, of course, Canada.

A Prince Edward Island golf vacation offers ocean panoramas and courses created by renowned designers including Robinson, Hurdzan and Fry, Tom McBoom and others.

Crowbush Cove, boasting 18 holes over 6,901 yards, features nine water holes and eight holes near the famous dunes on the Gulf of St. Lawrence. World famous, it has been awarded a 5-star rating from Golf Digest and is listed among the &’Sweet Sixteen&’ top courses worldwide.

From sunrise to sunset your choice of fairways for your PEI golf vacation comes with any number of backdrops including coastal dunes, breathtaking ocean views, and lush forests and rolling farmland. Wildlife abounds and you may well catch a peek at the endangered Piping Plover.

A vacation in the smallest of Canada&’s provinces need not be limited to golf. Prince Edward Island teems with as much or as little activity as desired. From simple walks along miles and miles of beaches, to hikes along nature trails; from cycling tours to paddling or deep sea fishing, there is something for every outdoor enthusiast.

Shopping, arts, crafts, music festivals and the finest of seafood dining are also requisites for any Prince Edward Island vacation be it golf or otherwise.

And as varied as your choice of golf courses for the duration of your vacation are the accommodation options offered by the island. From campgrounds to bed and breakfast through hotels and the finest of five star resorts, your vacation is truly your own creation.

This summer, set a course for a golf vacation to rival that of Hilton Head. Make it a Prince Edward Island golf vacation.
