If you are starting to play golf after leading a primarily sedentary lifestyle then you are going to notice that it is going to be rather difficult for you to just run out and play and entire 18 hole round of golf. However, if you have been playing for a while you are probably in much better physical shape, but overall your golf game will be greatly determined by your level of physical fitness. If you are in great shape physically, in terms of flexibility, strength and endurance you will be able to play a much better game than someone who is in lesser physical shape.

You are going to need to improve flexibility at the same time that you work to improve strength in order to have the best overall physical condition possible in order to play. This means that you want to work to build lean muscle, rather than bulky muscles. The primary differences is the amount of flexibility that the muscles provide. Bulky muscles tend to be stronger, yet at the same time they are not as flexible which will greatly restrict your ability to twist appropriately while you are swinging the ball. However, building lean muscle is not impossible, but will take a conscious effort.

The majority of people who are working to build muscle strength tend to build muscle mass automatically. This is typically because they are lifting large amounts of weights. Rather to build lean muscles you need to work to build repetitions of lower weight weights. This will allow you to improve your muscle strength, while allowing you to work towards building the lean and slender muscles that are better for your overall golf game. Resist the urge to lift weights that are heavier than 10 pounds because this will result in bulky muscles rather than lean muscles.

You should also work to keep your body as flexible as possible. This means you need to ensure that you are stretching both before and after playing golf to ensure that you are taking proper care of your body. If you do not stretch then you may find yourself very sore after a game and regretting playing. Just stretching for as little as 5 minutes before and after a round of golf will ensure that you are able to continuously play without any problems and without feeling as if you are spending more time stretching than playing golf.

As you are playing golf, it is very important to remember that you are often out in the very hot sun. For this reason, you need to always ensure that you take some water with you to ensure that you stay well hydrated during the game. If you become overheated or dehydrated, it will start to hinder your game as well as cause you problem in having the necessary endurance to play. Always drink plenty of water to ensure that you are able to continue playing. This is important no matter what type of exercise you are doing to ensure that you are as healthy as possible.

Your last major tip should be ensuring that you walk as much as possible. Golf may be a rather slow moving sport, but it does typically involve great amounts of walking. You need to be able to walk great distances without losing your breath, or experiencing back or leg pain. These problems can really reduce the amount of time that you can play and could potentially cause you to have to quit playing a game in the middle of a course. This is never something that is enjoyable so ensuring that you get plenty of walking exercise is essential. If you have problems with finding somewhere to walk then consider looking into a treadmill that will allow you to still get plenty of walking exercise even off the green.

A bit of careful planning and a tiny bit of carefully planned and executed exercise can go a very long way towards helping you improve your golf game dramatically. If you want to play golf as more than just messing around on a green, you will need to improve your physical fitness levels and you will be rather amazed at the benefits that it provides to your health as well as your overall golf swing.

Fitness for golf is a common term and senior golfers are getting the gist of it. The secret is out. Fitness for golf has come full circle and all the players on the senior tour and senior amateurs are taking notice.

With the senior golfer comes a rapid decline in physical ability. The golf swing is a physically abusive movement to the human body&’unless you take the time to prepare for it.

I have worked with thousands of senior golfers through my online golf fitness programs, and the results are dramatic. Just picture it. If you are in this demographic and your starting point is below average&’you have the biggest chance to see HUGE results.

How many times have you walked off the course or practice range with a twinge or two in your body? How about when you got home? Did it get worse?

What&’s that tell you?

I hope you realize how important fitness for golf is, not only helping you prevent injury, but utilize your true potential to it&’s fullest.

Doesn&’t it make sense as you get older, to improve your flexibility AND strength to hit longer drives that go straighter? Don&’t you want to slow down the &’aging process?&’

I have played with dozens of older golfers who are so frustrated at this rapid decline, but don&’t know what to do. They walk off the course in disgust.

I&’m here to tell you it doesn&’t have to be that way!

Don&’t look at it as &’work&’, &’sweating&’ or &’effort&’. Look at it as &’playing your best game ever!&’

It doesn&’t take a lot of work. You don&’t have to join a gym and put 3 hours in a day to see results. All it takes is 30 minutes 2-3 times a week. You can do that can&’t you?

Fitness for golf is the approach that will literally transform your game!

Golf is a low impact sport that is normally for leisure. But playing the greens can be psychologically intensive as it can be physically demanding. Golf is normally played by professionals and executives to unwind and take time off from the hassle and bustle of the corporate world. But for some who indulge in the sport, it can be an activity where they can make or break business deals.

Golf has been a man’s game, with all that metal involved. These are the equipments that can bring out the wolf amongst the sheep. It can be the determining factor on how serious of a golfer you are. Packing in iron and wood clubs that have titanium shafts really show that you’re in the game.

Budding golfers tend to focus more on the clubs, spending time researching and reading about it before they buy, but not really giving an equal amount of importance on golf shoes. Golf shoes are there not just for the looks of it, it also has its functions. The most sellable pair can be those worn by a sports celebrity endorser because golfers only took a couple of minutes to decide what to buy. A rather uncanny way of selecting something that could help you shave a few strokes off the game.

Playing golf for 3 to 5 hours a game, walking miles and miles of uneven terrain and exposing oneself to the blazing sun can be exhausting and painful to the feet. These factors can contribute to fatigue and may alter your swing form. It is advisable to wear golf shoes that have a half inch allowance on the toes so the foot won’t be cramped inside. Wearing a pair that has a bigger allowance can tip you off form since your feet are not thoroughly fastened. Normally good golf shoes are tight on the mid and rear foot section since this is where the balance comes from. Having worn the wrong type of shoes in playing golf can lead to injury since rubber shoes that are for running and cross training can be slippery on a wet turf and may cause the golfer to slip on the follow through. Some golf courses don’t allow these shoes for it can damage the green due to its spikes.

It is important to wear golf shoes that are soft so the feet won’t get swollen after playing the full 18 holes. Another thing to consider would be if the shoes are waterproof as golf is an outdoor sport and it might rain in the middle of the game. For beginners, it can be good to wear cleats with the shoes to provide more grip to the turf for that needed balance when swinging especially if the turf is wet. But cleats can destroy the greens and the fairways so the better the golfer gets the less likely he will need the cleats.

Core training for golfers is a must for developing maximum power and distance. As in all athletics, the core is your engine. Everything comes from the core! The modern golf swing is definitely a &’core-focused&’ movement; unlike the older swing technique of lower body action dominant.

You probably have heard the term core training for golfers, but do you know what it means and how to implement it into your golf performance routine?

Your core is the middle section of your body&’specifically your abdominal region. If your core is weak or restricted in rotational flexibility, you will have a minimal chance at hitting long drives.

I see this all the time in the senior golfer. No core strength or flexibility, resulting in a HUGE decrease in yardage off the tee. The senior golfer will say things like, &’I&’ve lost so much yardage off the tee the past few years&’; &’I use to hit my drives 50 yards further&’; &’If I could only get 20 more yards I&’d be happy&’.

This can be a very frustrating situation; but one that can be remedied easily, quickly and in the convenience of your home with minimal equipment. Improving your core rotational strength and flexibility does not require equipment in a gym or club.

You can do exercises as simple as grabbing a single handweight, getting in your golf posture, and rotating back and through holding the handweight in front of your stomach. You can also do stretches right in your office chair. Sitting upright and reaching around your chair, turning as far as you can to the right, then turning to the left.

These are just some very basic core training for golfers exercises, but they would give you a &’kickstart&’ into doing a complete program for your core.

You will be amazed at how much power you acquire in your swing when you implement a core training for golfers program. Even if that&’s all you did for the time-being, you&’d be way ahead of the game.

But my guess is once you start slow and easy, you&’ll get the &’runners high&’ and want to do more. This does not have to be a gut-busting routine! You can spend as little as 10 minutes a couple of times a week and see results.

Don&’t put it off any longer!

Start your core training for golfers today!

Golfing is a sport that is particularly hard on the back, especially your spine. You are out on the course for several hours a day swinging your golf clubs. This form of exercise is hard on your spine and back. This is why people who are heavily involved in this sport sometimes take advantage of a chiropractor. Chiropractors specifically work on the back and spinal region with adjustments and manipulation.

Chiropractic is based on manipulation or adjustments. They believe that most diseases and ailments have a root cause, subluxations, or misalignment of the vertebrae. When this is manipulated and the vertebrae put back into place, chiropractors believe that the patient will be healed and disease free.

Golfing, can be a considerable strain on the back. Although no disease is present, some people have found that chiropractic has helped them have more mobility and improve their game. This is because when the chiropractor aligns all the vertebrae, the back can move better. There are also some chiropractic exercises that golfers can do to get themselves prepared for their game.

&’ Basic muscle stretches, especially the hamstrings and groin areas, will help to loosen up muscles and improve flexibility.

&’ Put your club across your shoulders and lean right and left. This will get your back muscles ready for those swings.

&’ Get into your swing position and bend right and left. Again this will loosen up muscles.

&’ Stretch your shoulder muscles by taking your golf club behind your back, and raising it up.

&’ Practice swinging backwards, 10 times. This will stretch different body muscles.

&’ Do not forget those neck muscles

Golfing can also give rise to a painful condition known as &’golfer&’s elbow. This is when the bone gets over-rotated. Chiropractic treatments can help with this by adjustment and manipulation.

Chiropractic can sometimes help with balance, and flexibility, as it concentrates on keeping the spine and joints healthy. This will improve your overall game, as much of golf is dependent on the good health of your spine and back.

If your back and joints are feeling stiff from those long hours on the golf course, you might want to try a little manipulation and adjustment from a chiropractor. There is quite a bit of controversy about this form of alternative medicine, but many have found it helpful in loosening up your joints and making your back stronger more supple.

Exercises for golfers may seem like an oxymoron, but I&’m here to tell they are most definitely not. Golf is physical! Golf causes injury! Golf can very easily break down the body! To hit the ball maximum distance, your body has to have a higher level of golf specific strength and flexibility.

The above statements are fact.

To play your best golf you need to implement exercises for golfers as soon as possible. The sooner you start, the sooner you will see results on the course.

So what&’s the difference between going to the gym and plopping down on machines and doing exercises for golfers?

First off&’do you sit when you play golf?

Then why would you sit in a &’controlled&’ machine thinking it will improve your golf?

Golf is &’on your feet&’ and in a dynamic position (golf posture).

Because the demands for golf are so unique, you need to approach your golf improvement from a different angle than just going into a gym and thinking it will help your golf game.

Exercises for golfers doesn&’t just mean strength exercises. You&’ve got to do golf stretching exercises as well.

Whenever I hear a golfer say he/she needs to stretch more&’my first thought is &’they are missing the boat&’. Golf stretching without golf exercise is not permanent flexibility.

Here&’s an example for you.

Stretch a rubber band. Now stretch it more and more. What happens to the rubber band? It gets brittle and eventually breaks.

Picture your muscles just like that rubber band.

The winning combination is golf exercise and golf stretching . This will give you the best results.

When putting together your exercises for golfers program, take a look at the body position required to make a mechanically sound swing.

Once you realize this dynamic and very unique position, you can do golf exercises specific to this position.

Things to remember.

&’Do the majority of your golf exercises on your feet.

&’Do them in your golf posture if at all possible.

&’Keep your knees flexed, just like your golf swing.

&’Do as many rotational exercises as possible.

&’Make sure to do the follow through side of the swing.

&’Do a high enough repetition to promote golf muscular endurance.

Exercises for golfers can be fun and keep you motivated to stick with your program. Adherence is the main culprit for lack of results. Like any fitness or weight loss program, if you don&’t do it consistently you won&’t see the results.

Staying motivated by picturing the &’end-result&’ on the course will be a huge help. Envision you on that first tee a more powerful and fit golfer. Picture blasting your drives by all your playing partners. And lastly, paint a strong visual of you having the lowest score consistently when you play in your normal golf groups.

I hope you now have a better understanding of exercises for golfers.

Putting: Keep your shoulders on line

One of the most crucial fundamentals of consistent putting is making sure your shoulders start and stay on-line during the stroke. Here’s a drill that will help you see if your shoulder alignment remains consistent: Set up in your normal putting stance, then place the putter across your shoulders, parallel to your intended target line. Your right arm should remain in its normal address position. As a further alignment check, set your right hand perpendicular to your line–just as you’d square the putterface to the target.

Practice your stroke with the right hand only while holding the shaft along the shoulders. The shaft should stay parallel to your target line as your shoulders rock up and down to move your right arm through the stroke.

The in-to-in swing

Here’s an easy practice drill for longer, straighter tee shots: Place one tee off the heel of your driver at address and another off the toe–just beyond the teed-up ball–that’s the “gate” your clubhead swings through. Next, place a third tee about six inches inside your target line, about a foot behind the ball; a fourth tee goes a foot closer to the target than the ball and about six inches inside the target line. That’s your path coming into and extending beyond the impact gate. Trace the tees with your clubhead, and you’ll groove the proper in-to-in swing path.

How to stop swaying on short shots

Excessive lateral movement with the lower body on short shots can cause the arc of the swing to bottom out before the ball, leading to fat or bladed shots.

Often, amateurs try to correct this problem by widening their stance. Though this change may give you a feeling of being in better balance, it won’t necessarily keep you from swaying.

Instead, try narrowing your stance to no wider than your hips. A narrow stance will make it easier to feel the lower body rotate through the shot, as opposed to swaying from side to side. A stance that’s more narrow will also give you a more defined center of gravity. This improves your balance and stability, plus it moves the bottom of your swing arc forward, resulting in a more descending angle for crisp, solid contact.

Something New For Golfers- The Senior Golf Guild

A new site to the Internet is the Senior Golf Guild where senior golfers review golf courses and they report their findings. This a new adventure that started back in 2004. The idea of the Senior Golf Guild is to report if the golf courses are friendly to the senior golfer and what they offer as far services and easy of using the golf course. For seniors starting their retirement years and want a good game of golf, this site will be a benefit when looking for golf courses that are senior friendly. Golfers just you can review golf courses and help others choose a course that is just right for them.

The idea behind this rating system is show golfers good courses to play at, but also to address issues with golf courses that seniors might want to play, but they are not senior friendly. Whether this is a good thing or bad thing is a matter of personal opinion. If you are a golfer and happen to be a senior, you might want to experience courses the way they are instead of having improvements. Not all courses are designed the same and there are reasons for this, the top one being different playing fields allows the senior golfer to practice different techniques.

As a golfer, you need to try different golf courses to have a variety in your game. If all the golf courses were exactly the same with all the same services and amenities, you might not experience different techniques for golfing. If a course is different, you have to adjust for that and continue with the game. This is what makes a true golfer a pro at what they do. Yes, some courses may not be as well groomed as others, but this is part of golfing. As long as you play the game, the way you need to, you can play anywhere no matter if they are senior friendly or not.

The Senior Golf Guild does seem like a good idea, but maybe someone will see a golf course differently than another golfer does. Just because the course seems to be at fault for a bad game, it may be the person behind the game. Using opinions, that other have about senior golf courses should be taken with some thought. You might like the course or find the difficulty of the course more challenging than another senior golf player finds.

Avid senior golf players will play at courses they like or even dislike as long as they find a challenge. What better way to find a challenge than to play at golf courses that might be up to the standards of other golfers. Yes, the condition of the course is important, but it also depends what the condition is and if it affects the overall game. Some people may think that rugged terrain is not for senior golfers, but then if you never try a course like this because of what someone else says, you may miss out on something exciting and you will never know how your game could have been.

According to new research, more than 60% of cars in the USA North America travel less than 15 miles per day and nearly half of drivers travel less than five miles away from home. With gas prices climbing higher every day and air being polluted with gas emissions, a golf car is the most environmentally friendly vehicle out there. With all the golf cart accessories available, golf carts can become the most stylish and eco-friendly vehicle on the road.

Golf carts are widely used in university campuses where they transport people, goods and equipment, and are even used in cases of medical emergencies. They are also used in quiet neighborhoods, at large sports events by the personnel, and of course, on golf courses by golfers.

Many golf carts are purchased by disabled people who appreciate the higher speed and safety of golf carts compared to those of power wheelchairs.

Driving a golf cart is extremely economic. It costs around one cent per ten miles to operate an electric golf cart. It&’s also ten times cheaper to maintain and repair a golf cart than a car. However, not many automotive giants readily leap into the golf cart market, claiming that there is currently no demand for golf carts.

Still, more and more neighborhoods, especially in resort areas or those surrounded by golf courses, switch to golf carts to access malls, movie theaters, schools and restaurants without having to ride on the highway. In university campuses golf carts can be used only on designated streets and paths. Golf carts, as neighborhood electric vehicles with a proper license can travel on roads with posted speed limit of 35 mph.

Golf carts were introduced in the 1950s and later became popular thanks to golf visionaries such as Billy Dolan. With golf carts, golf greatly evolved as a game. Smaller, more efficient and nicely designed golf carts with cute stylish accessories such as custom wheels and seats, lift kits and even programmable speed controls, golf carts are becoming safer each year.

As a vehicle, golf carts can have three or four wheels. They can be powered by electric or internal combustion motors. The most famous golf carts manufacturers include Cushman, Club Car, Daihatsu, and many more.

Among the most popular golf cart accessories today are lift kits that add clearance to the golf cart which help with accessing rocky places and bumpy roads.

Many lift kits include off-road tires that can be used on the golf cart making it a rough little off-road beast.

Another popular golf cart accessory that is in huge demand in colder seasons is a rain curtain. These curtains can be snapped to the car frame to sit permanently on the car body, or they can be clipped to the car with hooks and removed in warmer seasons.

Many golf cart accessories basically do nothing except add some flare. Racing-style aluminum pedal kits, graphic and even 3D camouflage, custom steering wheels will add a stylish touch to any golf cart.

Golf carts are slowly spreading beyond student campuses, golf resorts and retirement communities. Well-designed and safe golf carts may soon be as common on city streets as scooters and bikes.

Golfers rarely ever need an actual excuse to get a present, and besides there are so many great times that are all throughout the year that being armed with the best information on the top gifts for golfers is an essential need.
