Stance and swing 6 tips for better golf

The perfect stroke is that elusive thing we all strive for, asleep in our beds at night with a smile on our faces as we dream of that drive going straight and true down the middle of the fairway or that putt dropping in to the cup at the end of its smooth 50 yard run.

Unfortunately reality bites when we get to the tee and make our shot, those niggling worries start in the back of out minds, are my feet too far apart, is my eye on the ball, is my chin too far in is my back swing too shallow, this indecision and doubt might be throwing you off your game, so take a little time and read through these tips to improving your swing and stance, if you do not learn anything at least you now know you were doing the right things all along and that doubt can be lifted and replaced by the dream stroke you always had inside of you.

1. Is your stance too narrow? A narrow stance can cause balance problems for a golfer, it also causes an unstable base and this can lead to more balance problems and so the vicious cycle continues. To solve the problem of poor balance you should take a slightly wider stance should be used, your toes should be slightly splayed out. The lead foot should be splayed out around 30 degrees, make these adjustments and you break the cycle, your base is stabilised and your balance restored.

2. When the club addresses the ball are your hands too close to your body?
This can limit the arc of the club and can cause it to be too narrow, to improve your arc you should reach a little more this produces a wider arc and improves distance.

3. Avoid swaying during the back swing, if you have a tendency to sway backwards this can seriously impair your swing, this is because you are not turning about your pivot point and the weight becomes too much for your rear leg, you should feel free to move your weight to your rear leg but only to the inside, you should concentrate more on turning than swaying to solve this problem.

4. One thing that will loose you power when you are playing golf is keeping your club too close to your body on take away, the way to correct this problem and get that power back is to extend your arms away from your body, like you were going to hand your club to somebody on your right had side, you must maintain your balance throughout.

5. To get a wider arc and more power you need to ensure that your right
elbow stays out from your body, too many golfers keep the elbow too close into their body and this causes a loss of power and severely limits your game.

6. Concentrate on not moving your weight on to your front foot during the back swing, this can cause a reverse pivot, that will lead to a loss of power, you must ensure that you move your weight to your back leg but not so much that you risk a loss of balance.

Importance of a Good Golf Swing

As you can imagine one of the most important parts of being a successful golf player is learning exactly how to swing and hit the ball correctly. If you have a poor golf swing, it can work against you dramatically and cause you numerous problems in trying to play a successful game. While learning how to swing the club successfully may seem impossible it really is something that you can easily do with a bit of practice and a lot of patience to really continuously practice your skills.

In the beginning, it may seem virtually impossible to learn how to successfully swing the golf club. This is unfortunately due to the many different aspects of a successful swing that come into play. From the appropriate stance, to the right club to use, to even the way you hold the club and then finally the way you shift your weight there are many things that can alter your swing skills. This can often make it quite difficult to determine why you have a bad golf swing, and what you need to do in order to improve your swing.

The vast majority of people who take golf lessons tend to spend a lot of time working on ways in which they can improve their swing. This is one of the single most important skills that you need in golf. Without good swing skills, you simply cannot play a successful round of golf no matter how hard you try. This makes it highly important that you spend a lot of time learning how to improve your skills. Your first step should always be finding an instructor who is patient and makes you feel comfortable. This is essential because you need to be relaxed in order to learn the appropriate stance.

If you are working with an instructor that you do not like, you are more likely to be tense. This can cause your swing to be off, and ultimately hinder your game. Because of the comfort that you need, it is imperative that you are comfortable with your instructor so that you can relax and focus appropriately on your overall form. If you have complications mastering your golf swing you will possibly need additional sessions with your instructor so you can correct any problems you are having before you move on.

With a lot of time, some patience and a good instructor you may very well be surprised at just how quickly the other aspects of the game seem to fall into place once you have mastered your golf swing. Without a powerful swing, you are not likely to have a very successful golf game, which in essence can have the effect of making golf much less fun to play. Patience and practice to improve your overall golf swing is a very good thing to do so that you can ensure that you are making the best decision possible each time you swing at the ball. Simply swinging to swing will likely leave you very frustrated and with a very bad golf score.

You may discover that you master a perfect golf swing in a single lesson or it may take you 20 lessons to master the golf swing. Regardless of how long it takes you, this gives you a good foundation to build up and should never be rushed. If you are a natural at golf you will be able to move on much quicker, however if you have complications with your golf swing it is perfectly normal and natural that it will take a bit of additional time to master the skill. Many people when they are beginning to learn to golf spend more time perfecting their golf swing than learning any other single skill for golf. You should also expect to have this same need, after all a bad golf swing will result in poor playing skills while a good and refined swing will make you highly successful.

A Better Golf Swing Is Inevitable

A better golf swing is inevitable…for any golfer, with the right approach. It doesn’t matter age or ability. It’s a reality…and can happen very quickly!

To achieve a better golf swing, a golfer needs to realize just how physically demanding it is on the human body. You are swing an object (golf club) at up to 100 mph. This puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles.

If these tissues of the body are weak, tight or brittle they will rupture and eliminate you from playing golf indefinitely. If it doesn’t, your performance will pay the price. The outcome either way is not what you want…but will happen without an emphasis on strengthening these areas.

Along with strengthening comes stretching. Stretching muscles to attain a better golf swing is common among most golfers. Although it is common, most golfers don’t stretch. Why? Because it is viewed as ‘work’. But if it were viewed as a form of golf improvement it would be a different story.

Swing mechanics cannot be improved if your golf specific strength and flexibility are ignored. It is an impossibility, unless you compensate for this lack of capabilities in your golf swing. Teaching pros are now starting to realize there is a definite connection between golf swing mechanics and fitness.

But that’s where the BIG gap is. Between instruction and physical fitness. This is the ultimate combination for total golf performance and I have been preaching it for several years now. When your physical capabilities are improved, your golf swing mechanics become much easier to achieve.

The next time you visit your teaching pro, to achieve a better golf swing, you’ll be able to do what he/she wants and the desired outcome will be achieved. This outcome is inevitable when you get your body moving better. Your golf swing mechanics fall into place.

It will only be a matter of time when all golfers will approach their golf improvement this way. It’s the only way that will warrant lasting results and ultimately a better golf swing.

Is Your Golf Swing Too Long?

Is your backswing too long? The majority of inexperienced players I see have too long of a backswing. So why would so many people have such long swings? It all boils down to Human Nature. Human Nature says that the longer you swing the farther you will hit the ball. If this were true, why is it that I can hit a ball 300 yards with a 3/4 swing but I can’t hit it 400 yards with a long swing?

When you watch the Pros on TV, you do see varying lengths of backswings. On one hand, you have a player like Jeff Sluman who has shorter swing and then you have a player like John Daly who has a longer swing. Even though they look different are there any similarities between their backswings.

1. Pros hinge their wrists to their maximum. This means that the angle between the left arm and the golf club at the top of the swing is 90 degrees or less.

The average player tends to be locked up in their wrists because they try to hit the ball too hard. If you try to hit the ball too hard, your wrists will lock up and your left elbow will break causing the club to go back too far. You have to allow the wrists to stay loose throughout the swing. The looser wrists will give you more power without having to take the club back too far.

2. The shoulder rotation in a Pros’ swing determines the amount the left arm goes back.

The shorter backswings and the longer ones are both relative to the amount of shoulder rotation each one creates. John Daly can turn his shoulders back more than 90 degrees. Because of this superhuman shoulder rotation, his swing appears longer than others. You should have a shoulder rotation of 90 degrees. Some people feel tight and they are not capable of turning their shoulders back this far. If you feel tight when you turn back, it’s not a bad thing. This tightness is a good thing because it tells you that you have created torque in your swing. Think of your body like a giant spring. If you were to wind up a giant spring it would get tight. Then, if you let go, it would want to snap back the other way. Most people avoid this tight feeling by over-rotating the hips on the way back. What they don’t realize it that when they rotate the hips more than 45 degrees they lose this torque that is necessary for creating consistency in the swing. So don’t avoid this tight feeling. Only turn back as much as your body will allow.

The next time you go to the range keep your lower body stable and turn your shoulders back as much as you can, until you feel tight. This tightness tells you that you have created the necessary torque in your backswing. Also, make sure your wrists are loose enough to allow the club to hinge to atleast 90 degrees in your wrists. This will give you maximum power without having to swing back too far.

Until next time,

Paul Wilson

Improve That Golf Swing With These Simple Tips

Everyone who plays golf strives to be the next professional golfer. People try to drive like Tiger Woods and putt like Jack Nicklaus, but often do they come up short due to a lack of skill. The following article contains golf tips that will help anyone play like the pros.

You need to replace any divots that you make. To replace a divot you need to put the tuft of grass back into the hole and step on it firmly. This should make the course look better and make it easier to play on the next time you come golfing.

Do not attempt any crazy training tactics that will mess up your overall game. You’ve worked too hard on your swing and your concentration techniques to start trying to hit shots with the opposite hand. Any little tick you develop can ruin your game, and switching things up will beckon the ticks.

A helpful tip when it comes to golf is that it is good to know that there will always be somebody better than you. This is important because you do not want to be dealt a crushing mental blow if you are competing and find yourself outmatched. Golf is a mental game that requires much preparation.

If you are seeking a new golf challenge instead of spending another weekend at the same local course, try setting out for a new place to play. Take a few consecutive weekends to try out several new courses and see if you find one that fits you and your game, and add a new ‘regular’ course to your repertoire.

If you are really committed to learning how to improve on your golf skills, you may want to consider taking lessons from a golf instructor. They can tell and show you things to do to improve on your swing, get the ball to go further, and improve your overall golfing skills. If the cost of this is prohibitive, you coulod try a golf swing analyzer which can be found in many golf stores.

A helpful tip when it comes to golf is to try to avoid wearing glasses when playing. This is important because your prescription or sunglasses may actually effect your depth perception and cause you to perform sub-par. Of course, if prescription glasses are needed you would most likely need to have contact lenses as a backup option.

Always check in with the pro shop as soon as you arrive at the course, even if the rest of your group has yet to arrive. By letting the starter know you are there, you ensure that you won’t be bumped down the tee sheet in favor of groups that are trying to squeeze in a round.

You must be sure to position your shoulders properly for your golf swing because the turn of your shoulder determines how well your hit plays out. Additionally, you should avoid raising or dipping your head while swinging. Your head should stay level to give you the greatest accuracy in your swing.

In conclusion, everyone strives to be a pro golfer. But due to a lack of skill are unable to do so. Use the golf tips from this article and your golf skills can rival the pros.

Golf Information That Can Improve Your Swing!

With putters and irons and woods and specially-crafted balls for distance, trying to learn to play golf can make your head spin. It’s hard enough just to figure out which equipment you need in order to hit the ball, much less learning to hit the ball into the hole. Read this article for some great golfing tips.

Work on your stamina if you expect to be a good golfer. You might not think that you need great stamina to golf since it doesn’t look that physical, but you’re constantly on your feet and walking while playing. Invest in a treadmill and get used to walking really long distances.

Before heading out to the first tee, make sure you have all the essential tools in your pocket. Keep a ball mark or coin for the greens, a divot repair tool to fix your marks, several extra tees and a second ball in your pocket, at all times. If you do this, you will always be ready for your next shot.

If you want to learn the ins and outs of golfing you should hire a golf instructor to teach you the things you need to know. They will be able to teach you how to hold the club, how to hit the ball and how to follow through so that you can guide the ball rather than just hit it.

Balance is the foundation of golf and you have to make sure you can stand on your own two feet without feeling uncomfortable or shaky. Golfing involves being able to balance with a club and also to steady your hand. It also requires good hand eye coordination. So learn to balance first and all the rest will come naturally.

Develop a routine that is unique to you every time you hit the golf ball. This might be aligning your club with the ball a few times or taking a couple of practice swings to the side. This will help you stay focused on hitting the ball with the proper force and speed that you desire.

Consider and exercise plan in addition to lessons when you want to improve your golf game. Developing a plan will help you approach exercise with the knowledge that it will pay off on the green. There are many options in the world of exercise that will help your mind, body and game.

Pay attention to how far up you bring your golf club on a back swing. The club’s shaft should be parallel to the ground. If the shaft is more than parallel to the ground, you increase the chances of making a poor shot.

If you have trouble slicing the ball off the tee, avoid the common mistake of compensating for this by aiming to the left. By aiming further left of your target, you actually put yourself in position to hit an even larger slice, as your club head is more likely to swipe across the ball instead of hitting it squarely.

Golf isn’t an exceedingly difficult game to understand by any stretch, but it is a game that requires a lot of practice and constant attention paid to detail. So before you go back out there and anger the alligators with your water bombs, take a few minutes to implement the tips you’ve learned above.

Improve Your Golf Swing A Different Way

You have probably tried everything, from following advice that worked for your friends to so called ‘tips from experts.’ So what else can you really do to improve your golf swing?

Actually there is plenty you can do, as long as you are prepared to change your mindset.

Thinking “outside the box” is a common expression we all like to use in boardrooms and offices these days, and yet the mindset or prejudices we have still hang heavily and hinders many people from making progress at anything.

The situation is really very much the same when it comes to any attempt to improve your golf swing.

You my have heard that professionals do work outs of sorts but your mindset keeps you from even taking a look to find out whether the exercises are really as strenuous and vigorous as you fear they may be.

Meanwhile 70 year old and 80 year old men and women continue to dramatically improve their golf swing taking simple exercises and work outs that even help to improve their general health.

Difficult to get out of the sort of mindset that emphasizes that golf is a leisure activity where workouts have no place, no matter how light. At least that’s the sort of golf you want to play. So do you really have a chance of ever getting to improve your golf swing?

I really do not think so. To improve your golf swing you really have to be prepared to look at things from a slightly different perspective. And maybe to take a closer look at why other people’s games and most important their golf swing has improved so much.

Imagine hitting your driver farther in your 40′s than when you were in your 20′s!

I imagine a few of you are saying, “No way!”

Read this article to be convinced otherwise. I received an e-mail from one of our BioForce Golf subscribers about the amazing change in his clubhead speed.

He wrote in about how excited he was that his clubhead speed had improved to a speed higher than when he was in his early twenties! He stated that currently his clubhead speed is between 105-107 mph, and in his twenties it was 95-100 mph. Go figure!

He related his increased driving distance and clubhead speed to a golf fitness program, a program with exercises specific to improving his golf swing. Not a traditional, pump-the-iron program, but one that promotes a more efficient and powerful golf swing.

He stated that since he implemented a golf fitness program, his flexibility, strength, and power have all increased.

As a result of this newfound “bottle of youth,” he is hitting the golf ball farther, lowering his scores, and enjoying the game of golf more.

The question to ask is, “How do improved flexibility, strength, and power relate to increased clubhead speed?”

First and foremost, we must understand a very important principle. The principle revolves around what actually swings the golf club.

Is it your body swinging the club or the club swinging your body?

Obviously, the answer is that your body swings the club. Keeping that statement in mind, we can safely say it is a combination of two entities that creates clubhead speed.

What two entities do you think I am talking about? They are your golf swing mechanics and your body.

Swing mechanics have an effect on clubhead speed. Optimal swing mechanics develop greater clubhead speed than poor swing mechanics. If you do not believe me, try this little experiment.

Go to the range and pull out your driver. On your first swing, swing smoothly and in control. On your second swing, swing as hard as you can! Which golf ball went farther? I am guessing the first one.

This little experiment just goes to show that the mechanics of your swing have an effect on clubhead speed and distance.

Bottom line on the swing mechanics side of the equation, the more efficient your golf swing mechanics are the greater amount of clubhead speed you will be able to generate.

Now, on to the second part of the equation, your body.

The body supports your golf swing mechanics. If your body does not have the flexibility, strength, or power to swing the golf club efficiently, the ability to generate clubhead speed will be compromised.

And if your body is inflexible, weak, and lacking the potential to generate power, clubhead speed will be a difficult entity to create.

Applying the idea of power to golf can be simply identified through clubhead speed. If the clubhead is moving faster at impact with the golf ball, what does this tell us about the golfer?

The golfer is more powerful, and the ball will probably travel farther.

How can a golf fitness program increase the power production in your swing?

Increasing your flexibility allows you to perform the mechanics of the golf swing more efficiently opening the door for improved clubhead speed.

Increasing your strength and power levels around the golf swing allows your body the potential to generate greater amounts of clubhead speed.

Put these entities together with your efficient golf swing mechanics and you will find increased clubhead speed in your golf game.

Now, aging presents a very interesting situation. As you age, the natural levels of flexibility, strength, and power decrease.

Yes, as you get older the body slows down. The slowing down has an effect on your golf swing.

You do not have the flexibility to perform the mechanics of the golf swing. The lowers levels of strength and power decrease the ability to generate clubhead speed.

In order to reverse the effects of aging and improve your clubhead speed, you need to implement a golf fitness program.

A golf fitness program can slow “the hands of time,” improve your flexibility, increase the strength within the body, and improve your power outputs. You essentially become an ageless golfer.

Bottom line, better flexibility, increased strength and power training will increase your clubhead speed, lower your scores, and you’ll get a lot more enjoyment out of the golf course.

Golf Swing Eureka! Review – Good Or Bad?

After having a chance to see what the software could to for an average golfer’s game, I felt compelled to write this Golf Swing Eureka! review. Does the software really improve your game in a drastic and measurable way? Will it save you money? In this short review I will answer these questions and more, all with the ultimate goal of giving you a good idea of what you can realistically expect to get from Golf Swing Eureka! From there, you just have to look into it on your own and decide if it’s a good product for you.

How much money have you spent on your golf swing? If you’re similar to Jon Barrett, creator of Golf Swing Eureka!, you’ve spent well over $1,000. From magazines and books to instructional DVDs and professional lessons, golf is anything but a poor man’s sport. There’s a reason why golf is a billion dollar industry, I can tell you that much.

So say you’ve spent the money, maybe a little more or less than Barrett, and your golf game still isn’t where you want it to be. What next? Do you give up and quit? I wouldn’t just yet, until you’ve looked into Golf Swing Eureka! Considering 80 percent of all golfers will never achieve and handicap of less than 18, Golf Swing Eureka! might just be the software you need to get yourself into the elite 20 percent.

Golf Swing Eureka! is different than any other golfing material you’ve ever encountered. It is not a manual detailing how to swing the golf club, but it does tell you what you need to know about how the golf swing works. By understanding how the swing works, you can drastically improve your game. A book that reveals little known facts that make a huge difference in your game, Golf Swing Eureka! can teach you how to execute your golf swing like a professional.

Touted as ‘the easiest to understand format ever seen’, Golf Swing Eureka! is just what you need to cut your average round of golf by 20-30 shots or more. I highly recommend the software to golfers of all skill level, literally everyone can benefit from the knowledge it will give you.

Tips On How To Improve Your Golf Swing

So, you want to play golf like you have some knowledge and respect for the sport? First, you need to know the basics associated with the playing dynamics to showcase what type of knowledge you actually have about the sport. If that is not enough, try reviewing the article listed below to assist you.

Understanding that quality is more important than quantity when playing golf is essential. It is not how hard you hit the ball; but rather where the ball is hit on the club that is important. Try to establish proper mechanics if you desire to improve your game.

Show proper course etiquette by fixing the course if damaged during play. Correcting damage done to the course is a politeness that you should always follow. If you make an explosive shot, find and replace the divot. If you mess up a sandtrap, find the rake and smooth it back out. Leave the course the way you found it for the next player.

Do not chew gum while on the golf course. Not only does this look childish, but if anybody finds discarded gum on the course or clubhouse, you may be the first one to receive blame. This rule may vary greatly depending on the course you choose.

You must be sure to position your shoulders properly for your golf swing because the turn of your shoulder determines how well your hit plays out. Additionally, you should avoid raising or dipping your head while swinging. Your head should stay level to give you the greatest accuracy in your swing.

The next time you are stuck in the trees, take a moment to survey all options. While it is always exciting to find the most direct route to the green through the trees, this path is not always the safest. Prevent extra shots and increased frustration by seeking out the best way to get back into the fairway. It may cost you one extra stroke, but this is better than hacking away at three extra shots in the trees trying to go the hard way.

Watching the pros golf on TV is a great way to improve your game, but it’s even better if you’re there in person. You can walk alongside the pros and really get a feel for what they’re doing to hone in on their game so methodically. The live atmosphere is great for learning.

Consider planning a golfing holiday. By combining your annual vacation abroad with your favorite hobby, you are likely to have a very good time while away from home. When you play golf abroad, you will get to try out different golf courses and weather conditions. You could also play golf with some new people and pick up some new techniques.

These days, most golf courses will not allow shoes with metal spikes, so you have to have golf shoes with “softspikes” or spikeless golf shoes. Softspikes are generally easier to install and replace than old-fashioned metal spikes. There are two kinds: one type has a triangular joining that clicks into place. The other type screws into place. Generally speaking, the screw in type of softspike stays-in place better than the click-in type.

This article should have provided you with a proper foundation of what it takes to become a better golfer and what areas of the sport you can improve upon. Should any inquiries still remain, review the article again.
